Let's get started!

At this point you’ve seen my website and social media posts and you’ve felt a connection to all the candid smiles, deep kisses and all the fun I’ve captured through my lens. You’ve skimmed the bio and think “yeah this lady seem’s pretty groovy”. You sent me an initial email and now you’ve found yourself on this page. The purpose of which is simply to give you some basic information and so you can lean more about what the process of working with Emmalee Luckas Photography will be like.

A documentary style

A wedding is so filled with love and commitment by so many people. You bring them all together, often for the first time, in order to not only witness your vows but  to show how they are all now connected. In no other situation do you see so much emotion. Your Mom brushes away a tear, your laughter at your maid of honors speech, your grandparents joyful faces as they jump up to dance. I can capture that. I sit back and wait for these moments. If I go unnoticed for long periods of time, I know I've done my job.

Even when it comes to portraits I like to gently guide you into a pose and then step back and allow you to relax with your fiancé. I'll help you feel comfortable and make sure the lighting and background are perfect, after that I want to capture your laughter and snuggles not a complicated pose.

Don't worry, we'll grab the perfect shot of you and your mom smiling for the camera, but I'll also capture the embrace that follows.

A lot of photographers only provide a few options and expect you to choose from their limited selection. After planning my own wedding I know how frustrating that is! Every wedding inquiry I receive get's a custom quote based on your needs with several options for you to consider. I want you to have exactly what you need. Not sure how many hours you need? Not a problem you can add hours as late as a week before your wedding. Not sure where to start? Feel free to chat with me, I can help you find what you're looking for even if you can't put your finger on it.

After you've made a decision all I need to lock your wedding date into my calendar is a signed contract and a retainer. After that, we are an official team! Let's start planning so your day and your photos!

Your Engagement Session

Lets go exploring! An engagment session is not only fun and a great way to start your visual love story but you also get to practice being in front of my lens. We get to learn about each other and figure out how we all communicate. I can see what posses make you confirmable and how you both interact and care for each other. Any adventure you can think of we can do together!

Lets Have a Plan

You'll learn quickly that wedding days are all about effectively planning before hand for every kind of situation. That especially goes for photos. I can help you find the best times to get certain shots done as well as help organize things like photographs of you and your family together, when we can whisk you away for a night shot or a few sweet portraits at sunset. I can also help you decide if something like a first look is right for you both. I can discus locations we can venture to as well as a plan B and a plan C.

Through this journey we take together leading up to your wedding day I'll be learning about your preferences, but once we start planning we can start getting specific.Though I'll be very aware of fun happenings throughout your wedding day it's always great to have a heads up on any significant events or details you want captured.

Your Wedding Day

All that work and preplanning has finally paid off, it's your wedding day. I'll bring my gear, a positive attitude, creativity and plenty of snacks. Every wedding is different but one thing is always the same, I'll be quietly capturing moments as they flutter by. I'll be helping you stay on track if you need me to and I'll be there to sneak you off for some quite portraits if it all gets too overwhelming. After all our planning I'll know what you want from your pictures, so you can sit back and enjoy your experience.

Printing is important

For too long wedding photos have lived hidden on usb drives and cd's never seeing the light of day. It's time to get back to the good old days of printed albums sitting out for your friends and family to see. Beautifully printed images matted and lovingly framed on your wall. If you have a particular vision for your photos let me know. I can accomidate any idea no matter how big or small!

10 x 10 albums start at $800

12 x 12 albums start at $1,000

  • Do you provide a print and distribution release?

I do! I always suggest you print with my professional team but you can absolutely take your photos to your local printer if Grandma needs a quick 8x10. You are also free to share your images on Facebook but please refrain from adding your own filters and please add a link to either my Facebook page or my website emmaleeluckasphotography.com

  • How soon will I get my photos after my wedding?

6 - 8 weeks after your wedding you'll receive a link to your images on your printing site (which will be active for 3 months) as well as a USB of your images which will arrive in the mail ready to go.

  • Do you have backup equipment?

Yes I do! I keep two extra camera bodies in my bag, plenty of lenses and an extra flash. If you love talking tech I’m happy to send over a list of whats in my bag.

  • Travel Fee?

I currently am out of Elmhurst, IL which is about 30 minutes outside of Chicago. Anything over 90 minutes away from Elmhurst we will need to consider a hotel stay the night before your wedding. Shoot me an email and we can discuss your particular needs. That being said, I’ve traveled coast to coast for photography jobs and my passport is always up to date.

  • How do we make the best photos possible?

Collaboration is the key. Communication is needed in any working relationship and that's what I want for us. I need to know what makes a great photo for you. Is it the big city in the background? Is it being surrounded by greenery? Ask questions! splurge on professional make-up or hair for your engagement session. Wear something you're comfortable and happy in. Pay attention to lighting, we might not be able to plan your photos around sunset on your wedding day but we can definitely sneak out for a photo or two and we can absolutely plan your engagement session around golden hour! As long as I know what you’re really hoping for I can help make it happen!

  • Where should we shoot?

For your wedding day let me know what general feel you're looking for and I can provide you with some fun suggestions near your venue. Often a couple might just say "nature" or "grungy city feel". For your engagement session the world is our oyster! Let me know what really makes you both happy together. Are you at your best snuggling on your couch with with your puppy? Love going for a beer together after a hike on the Prairie Path? Want to runaway to the beach? We can make any adventure into an engagement session!

  • How many photos will we get?

The number is not set in stone and I never set a cut off. On average for an 8 hour wedding day you'll receive between 700-800 fully edited photos

  • Do you have insurance?

I do! Please let me know as soon as possible if your venue needs a copy on file.

  • How long have you been doing this?

I started shooting professional in college and start weddings after graduating in 2013.

  • Can I give you a shot list?

That depends on what you mean by a “shot list”. If you printed out a huge list from Pinterest then no. With my documentary style it is imperative that I don’t have my nose in papers and miss moments as they are happening. There’s no need for you to tell me to get a photo of your mom zipping up your dress, I’m watching and waiting for this moments. I DO want to know about any extra details I might not notice and I love having a family shot list. I try to keep this part of the day to under 30 minutes but I don’t know your family dynamics and having a list and a family member helper helps things run smoothly.

Thank You

From here we will discuss your needs and I will happily answer all your questions and concerns.

I can't wait to take this adventure with you!
